In addition to writing two feature pieces for WORD, I illustrated the cover of Issue 41. The illustration was based on my photo series, A Living Room. Originally a series about the definition of home as more than a domestic space, the image took on a new meaning at the onset of shelter-in-place. The empty chair and desolate surroundings convey the loneliness of some domestic settings during periods of isolation. I revived an outtake from the series in the form of a digital illustration. My illustration was selected for the magazine cover because my team at WORD felt like it accurately reflected the content of our very first remotely created issue.
